In 1918 Elizabeth Warning, a Democrat, ran in a field of several candidates for the position of Kansas Superintendent of Public Instruction. She was the Democratic nominee, losing to Republican Lizzie E. Wooster. Warning was an alumna of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college. She served on the executive committee of the Kansas State Teachers Association. In the 1920s Warning worked as a rural school supervisor.
