In January1911 Thyra Therkildsen was elected Laramie, Albany County(Wyoming) County Clerk. She served at least seven years. The length of the terms are not known, but she presumably won another two or three elections. She was the first woman in Albany County elected to any position. Therkildsen was the eldest of six children. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1908, and began working at the courthouse in Laramie. In 1909 she was appointed deputy county clerk, and served in this position until elected county clerk in 1910. Therkildsen was elected as County Clerk in 1914 and 1916.
