Lucretia Coffin Mott was a Quaker Minister and social activist. Mott joined Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Martha C. Wright, Mary Ann M'Clintock, and Jane Hunt to organize the first woman's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. Mott devoted her life to peace, women's rights, abolition, and many other social justice causes. In Jun of 1847 at a meeting of a new political party, the Liberty League, one vote was cast for Mott for president. The following year, at the Liberty Party convention, Mott was nominated for U.S. Vice President in the first round of voting. She received 5 votes from party convention attendees. It is likely that Mott did not know before hand of this nomination, nor is it likely that she had any intention of running for public office.
