Gertrude Thompson was the County Superintendent of Schools for Atchison County, Missouri in 1915. Thompson had served as principal of a local high school before her election. She served as county superintendent into 1919. After leaving that position Thompson worked with the Red Cross directing relief services in Texas and Missouri.
