Clara H. Hazelrigg was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Butler County, Kansas in 1892. Hazelrigg was a school teacher in the area, and later a school principal. She was a well-known author and journalist. Hazelrigg was a supporter of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and ordained as an evangelical minister.
