In 1884 Anna C. Wait was a Prohibition party candidate for County Register of Deeds for Lincoln County, Kansas. Jennie Newby, a state organizer for the Prohibition party in Kansas served as Wait's campaign manager. That same year Wait was one of the founders of the Kansas Equal Suffrage Association and served as a vice president. Wait submitted the report on suffrage activities in Kansas to volume three of the History of Woman Suffrage, published in 1886.
