In 1912 Martha A. Boardman was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Stevens County, Washington. She served for one term. Boardman was concerned that socialist school board members were trying to hire socialist teachers in her county, and complained to the state superintendent, Josephine Corliss Preson.
