From collection Candidates
In 1911 Helenna C. Lee was a Democratic and Keystone party candidate for School Committee in the forty-seventh ward of Philadelphia. As only Republican candidates won seats in the forty-seventh ward that year, Lee did not win her race. Married to a Universalist minister, Lee was active in many religious and reform efforts in the city, and she organized night classes in her ward. She was also a writer of short and long fiction.
