Elizabeth L. Bladen was a Democratic candidate for School Director for Philadelphia's fourth ward in 1883. She was a well-known writer and published articles in a local newspaper. Bladen was active in the national suffrage movement. She also attended meetings of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences.
