Louise Pitt-Erickson was born in Nebraska. She took homestead land at Brewster and located there permanently in 1902. She was educated at Ulysses High School. Pitt married Peder C. Erickson on May 14, 1904. As the Fusion ticket nominee she was elected Blaine County superintendent of public instruction in 1904, serving from 1905 to 1907. Pitt-Erickson and her husband were active in the Congregational Church.
