Lucy M. Young was a candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Trintiy County, California in 1914. She lost in the primary election that year. But four years later Young ran again for the office, this time successfully. Before her election she had been a teacher in the area, as well as holding other clerical jobs. In 1912 Young was appointed as a representative to the Republican party county central committee.
