Mildred L. Richmond was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Kings County, California in 1918. Before her election Richmond served as a school teacher in the county. Richmond was no newcomer to politics. She had served as a delegate from her home town of Hanford to the county Democratic party convention in 1912.
