Ethel Guild was the Republican candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Uinta County, Wyoming in 1912. She lost the race to the Democratic incumbent, Iva Thomas Irish. Before her election Guild had attended the Utah Agricultural College and studied music, elocution, and physical culture at the University of Utah. After graduating from high school in Uinta County, she had worked for several years as a bookkeeper.
