Heath, Laura C.
Laura C. Heath was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Campbell County, Wyoming in 1918. She won against the incumbent, Anna B. Schmidt. Heath resigned from the office in August of 1919 due to ill health. With her sister Gertrude Huntington, Laura purchased and edited the first local newspaper, The Platte Valley Lyre, in 1890.  During the 1890s, Gertrude also served several terms as County Superintendent. The sisters owned and operated the newspaper until 1902, when they sold it to a competitor. After her husband Alfred Heath's death in 1903, Laura worked in the County Clerk's office, the County Assessor's office, and later the County Treasurer's office.
