Melissa Lance, a Democrat, was elected as County Recorder for Duchesne County, Utah in 1918. She served for one term. Before her election Lance worked as a stenographer and typist for Uintaland Publishing. Lance was a plural wife, and later married George Billings. Her full name was Clara Melissa Lance Billings.
