From collection Candidates
Anna (or Annie) McAnnelly, the Republican candidate, was elected County Superintendent of Schools for Park County, Montana in 1894. She ran for a second term two years later, but was defeated by the Democratic candidate. In 1898 McAnnelly ran as the Populist candidate for Superintendent in Cascade county, but lost to the Democratic incumbent, Ina Craven. As a Catholic candidate McAnnelly may have faced some opposition in her 1894 race. Her sister, Martha A. Kearns, was also an elected County Superintendent in the state.
