Stella W. Traver was the Prohibition party candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Whitman County, Washington in 1888. She received less than five percent of the votes cast. Traver was a founding member and secretary of the Spokane Woman's Christian Temperance Union. In the mid 1880s, as women in the state had gained full suffrage, she served on a board of elections. Traver was considered a staunch suffrage supporter.
