Minnie Spurgin
Minnie Spurgin was the Republican and Silver Republican candidate for County Superintendent of Schools in Missoula County, Montana in 1898. She lost to the Democratic incumbent Harriet Hord.  Spurgin ran for the office on the Progressive ticket in 1914 and was elected. She also served in the office in the 1920s. By 1914 Spurgin was the president of the Missoula Women's Club. After moving to California in the 1920s, Spurgin married. A scholarship named after her, Minnie Spurgin Fullam, was funded at the University of Montana.
