Carrie L. Turnley, a Democrat, was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Lewis and Clarke County, Montana in 1889. She served for one term. Turnley ran for re-election, as the Democratic candidate, in 1892, but lost to one of the Republicans, Minnie A. Reifenrath. Two years later Turnley ran once more, this time as the Peoples party candidate and lost to Reifenrath again.
