Carolyn A. Murphy was the Republican candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Deer Lodge County, Montana in 1889. She lost to the Democratic incumbent, Margaret I. Wolfe. In 1900 Murphy ran again for the office, but in Broadwater County. She lost the race to the incumbent, Eva Harrington.
