Adelia S. F. Barnard was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Routt County, Colorado in 1897. She served for one term. Barnard, an Independent, won against the Democratic incumbent, Emma Peck. In 1908 a newspaper reported that Barnard might try to run for the office again as an Independent candidate.
