Elizabeth Hemberger was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Jefferson County, Colorado in 1908. She far outstripped the rest of the Republicans in the election that year. Hemberger was elected for a second term two years later when she faced two other women opponents, Socialist Louise Doty and Republican Bertha Treffeisen.
