I.H. Kent, of Fallon, campaigned for the University of Nevada Board of Regents in 1916 on the Socialist ticket. She ran against two other women: Republican, Edna Baker and Democrat, J. Fay McQuestian. Kent lost the election to her Republican opponent. In 1916, a member on the Board of Regents held a statewide position. However, in 1957 the state legislature re-designated the office as a district specific position.
