Bell H. Lehman was elected to the School Board of Sandusky, Ohio in 1909. She ran as a delegate-at-large and independent candidate, with her campaign focusing on the rights of women and children. She was active in local women's clubs. In 1922 Lehman gave the opening address to a convention of the Ohio Loan Association.
