Mary E. Blake was a candidate for the Boston School Committee in 1900. She was endorsed by the Public School Association in the city. In 1895 Blake sogned a petition in favor of municipal suffrage for Massachusetts women. She had worked as a school teacher and wrote several books for children. Blake was also known as a poet.
