May T. Sanders was a Colorado Socialist Labor party activist. Nominating conventions were held in her home and she was nominated as a candidate for county or city offices almost every year between 1901 and 1907. In 1901 Sanders was the Socialist Labor Party candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Mesa County, Colorado. The following year Sanders was the party candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. In 1903 Sanders ran for City Clerk of Grand Junction. In 1904 she was again the candidate for County Superintendent of Schools. The next year and in 1907 Sanders again ran for City Clerk in Grand Junction. She never won her races and always received about five percent of the vote.
