Camilla M. Sanders campaigned for the office of City Clerk and Recorder for the town of Delta, Colorado in 1909. She was the candidate of the Businessmen's Party. Sanders, the only candidate in the race, was successful and replaced Lillie E. Wilson in the office. Sanders ran for a second term the following year, and was endorsed by the Taxpayers Party in addition to the Businessmen. By 1915 Sanders was running for a third term, but as an independent, and against another woman, Carolyn M. Seaton. In the 1915 race the Office of City Clerk had been renamed as Commissioner of Finance and Supplies. Without party backing Sanders took out her own advertisements in local newspapers. By 1919 Sanders ran again, this time it was Lillie E. Wilson who was back in the office. That year Sanders was the Progressive Party candidate and Wilson ran as the Citizens Party nominee. Wilson won the race, but only by 16 votes. Sanders ran for the office once more in 1921, again as an independent candidate, but did not win.
