Mrs. Stella B. Irvine campaigned on the Prohibition ticket for Congressman of California's 11th District in 1918. She lost the election to her incumbent and Democratic opponent, William Kettner. Irvine was also a contender for a position in the California Assembly from the 77th Assembly District sometime between 1913-1915. Irvine was an active Prohibitionist well before her campaigns. She was President of the Southern California W.C.T.U. and used her position as National Superintendent of the Sunday School Department to encourage the teaching of Temperance in Sunday Schools.
