Rebecca Hartz was a candidate for the School Board of Novato, Marin County, Calinfornia in 1906. Despite canvasing door-to-door, Hartz received only about 12% of the vote. She lost to the male incumbent. Hartz had emigrated from Germany at the age of 19.
