Katie O'Neill was elected City Clerk of Beattie, Marshall County, Kansas in 1899. O'Neill was part of the all women city government elected that year in Beattie. She also served as local postmistress. One newspaper reported that her family all voted against her candidacy, but there is no further evidence for that claim.
