Mary E. Foy was a candidate for the Annandale, California School Board, in 1910. Suffrage supporter Clara Shortridge Foltz spoke at Foy's last campaign rally before the election. One newspaper article reported that Foy lost the race by one vote. Foy was also a Democratic Party candidate for Presidential Elector in the California Presidential Elector primary election in 1912, and again in 1916 and 1920. She a prominent resident of Los Angeles and served as President of the California Women’s Democratic League for several years. Foy also served as the secretary of the Votes for Women Club in the city. As an educator and the first City Librarian of the LA Public Library. Foy also ran unsuccessfully for Congress from California in 1934.
