Rolfe, Emily

Emily Rolfe was one of three women elected School Director in Nevada City, California in 1883.  A newspaper reporting on the event noted: "Some men set up the boast that they can beat women at anything.  If those men who were candidates in Nevada City thought thus, they have probably changed their minds."
