Mae Alexander was the Democratic party candidate for Huerfano County, Colorado Superintendent of Schools in 1912. Alexander did not win the race, but she continued to serve as a teacher in the county. In the September 1912 primary elections Alexander ran as a Democratic party Committeewoman for Precinct No. 35 in La Veta, Colorado.
