Minnie A. Utter
In 1912, and again in 1918 Minnie A. Utter was elected the Prowers County (Colorado) Superintendent of Schools. Utter ran under the Progressive ticket in 1912. She ran again for additional terms in 1914 and 1916, but lost both times to the Republican candidate, Mary Z. Lake. In 1914 Utter ran under the Progressive ticket and as the Democratic candidate in 1916.  As the Democratic candidate in 1918 Utter won against Republican Florence Sayler. Utter was a widow who had given birth to four children. She was born in West Virginia in c. 1873 and had been married for 27 years before the death of her husband. She lived in Lamar, Colorado.
