Anna S. Gardwood, a Democrat, was twice elected Fremont County, Colorado Superintendent of Schools. Her first electoral success came in 1914. She ran again in 1916, against Minnie E. Merriam, the Republican candidate, and won. She lived in Canon City, Colorado.
