In 1916 Ella Dickerson, a Democrat, ran unsuccessfully for the office of Gilpin County, Colorado County Superintendent of Schools. The contest was for the 1917-1918 term. She lost to the Republican candidate, Edith Williams. Dickerson was a Colorado native.
