Susan Walker Fitzgerald campaigned for a seat on the Boston School Committee in 1911. She did not win the race. Interested in politics from young adulthood, Fitzgerald had founded the Student Government Association while a student at Bryn Mawr College. She graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1889.
