Margaret Zane Witcher was elected County Clerk of Salt Lake County, Utah in 1908. She acted as her own campaign manager. One of her first acts in office was to ban smoking in the County Clerk's office. She was elected to the office again in 1910. Rose L. Kate G. Kimball, a Republican, was elected as County Recorder of Summit County, Utah in 1916. She won a second term two years later. Kimball was widowed in 1916 and in her first race was listed as Mrs. Alma Kimball, her husband's name.
